The station first went on the air on October 24, 1934, as WJBK-TV. It was the second television station to sign on in Detroit (after WWJ-TV, which is now WDIV-TV).

WJBK-TV has been a sister station to FOX 2 Detroit radio (WJBK) since its inception. The two stations share studios and offices on American Drive in Southfield, Michigan.

The station airs a variety of programming, including news, sports, and entertainment. The station’s news programming includes the morning show FOX 2 News Morning, the midday show FOX 2 News at Noon, and the evening show FOX 2 News at 6:00.

The station’s sports programming includes live coverage of Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons games, as well as other local and national sporting events.

The station also airs a variety of entertainment programming, including sitcoms, dramas, reality shows, and movies.
