KGO-TV first went on the air on May 5, 1949, as KGO-TV, channel 7. The station was originally owned by the General Tire and Rubber Company. KGO-TV has been a leading news station in the Bay Area for over 60 years.

KGO-TV’s news programming is currently anchored by Dan Ashley, Cheryl Jennings, and Ama Dietz. The station’s news department produces nightly newscasts at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 11:00 pm, as well as a morning newscast at 4:30, am. In addition to its regular news programming, KGO-TV also produces several special reports and programs throughout the year, including “Bay Area Backroads”, “Beyond the Headlines” and “The Golden State Warriors Championship Parade”.
