KHBS-TV, channel 40, is a television station licensed to Fort Smith, Arkansas, United States. The station is owned by Hearst Television. KHBS-TV’s studios and transmitters are located on Albert Pike Road in central Fort Smith.

KHBS-TV
signed on the air on September 15, 1955, as KFPW-TV; it was Arkansas’ second television station and the first outside of Little Rock. The station was originally owned by Fort Smith businessman Morris McDaniel (who also owned radio stations KFPW 1230 AM and KFPW-FM 94.9, now KISR 93.7). It was a primary NBC affiliate with a secondary ABC affiliation; it shared CBS programming with then-sister station KFSA-TV (channel 5, now KHOG-TV).2
