WLWT, channel 5, is an NBC-affiliated television station located in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. The station is owned by the Hearst Television subsidiary of Hearst Communications. WLWT’s studios and transmitter are both located on Young Street in Cincinnati’s Mount Auburn neighborhood. On cable, the station is available on Charter Spectrum channel 9 and in high definition on digital channel 722.

WLWT was established by the Cincinnati Post in 1948 as the city’s third television station. The station has been an NBC affiliate for over 60 years and is currently the only commercial television station in Cincinnati to have never changed its primary affiliation.

WLWT was one of the first stations in the country to air color programming and was also one of the first to broadcast in high definition when it upgraded its facilities in 2003.

The station has been a rating powerhouse for much of its history. It was the highest-rated television station in Cincinnati during the early 1980s and again in the 1990s. In recent years, however, it has fallen behind rival WKRC-TV.
