NBC 5 Seattle is the local NBC affiliate for Western Washington. The station is owned by Tegna, Inc. and is located in Seattle, WA.

The station first signed on the air on October 14, 1948, as KRSC-TV. It was the second television station in Seattle, after KOMO-TV (which signed on a month earlier). The station was originally an affiliate of the DuMont Television Network.

In 1953, the station changed its call letters to KING-TV, in honor of former owner King Broadcasting Company. The following year, the station became an affiliate of the NBC Television Network.

Throughout its history, NBC 5 Seattle has been a leader in local news coverage. The station has won numerous awards for its journalism, including several Peabody Awards.

In recent years, NBC 5 Seattle has expanded its news programming to include more investigative and enterprise reporting. The station also produces a number of local specials and public affairs programs.
